Vermont Summer Horse Festival

The Vermont Summer Festival is back with six week of horse events in East Dorset, only about an hour from the Mountain Top Inn and two hours and twenty minutes from the Vermont Icelandic Horse Farm. On my visit to Vermont to film for Equitrekking Vermont, part of Equitrekking's first season, I was able to combine riding at the Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden and Vermont Icelandic Horse Farm in Waitsfield with a trip to the Vermont Summer Festival and University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm. Since it's so hot right now, I'd love to drive up to Vermont and do the same thing again this summer!

From July 7 through August 15 at Harold Beebe's farm on Route 7 in East Dorset, spectators can enjoy hunter and jumper competitions for all ages in a scenic Vermont location. The show grounds include five all weather rings, including one of the largest Grand Prix fields in New England, permanent wash racks, paddocks, all weather schooling and riding areas and extended trails for hacking out. The biggest day of the summer event is the $50,000 Grand Prix on Sunday August 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm, but every Sunday there's a $30,000 Grand Prix at 1:00 pm and there are weekly $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur-Owner Classics.

Admission is only $5 for Adults and $3 for Children, Wednesday through Saturday and $7 for Adults and $5 for Children on Grand Prix Sunday. Learn more about attending the Vermont Summer Festival and equestrian vacations at the Mountain Top Inn and Vermont Icelandic Horse Farm.
