In Depth

Horseback riding is the central activity at the Rocking Z Guest Ranch. We are proud of our horses and know them all well. Through the use of Parelli Natural Horsemanship and personal experience, we have very talented and versatile horses for every level of rider. We take great care choosing the best partnership for horse and rider by considering each horses unique Horsenality, and the rider’s ability and desires, enabling every rider to have a great horse experience!

Our rides are spectacular, with great variety to offer all levels of riders. You can have great long gallops, ascend to mountain vistas, follow mountain streams to old homesteads through cattle pasture or timber. We also have ground games we share by popular demand of natural horsemanship and arena games to feel your own ability and achievement with barrel racing or cattle work.

In addition to our wonderful horses and rides, we are a family ranch and pride ourselves in our history and hospitality. We have been on this land for 4 generations and are continually finding new and old ways to improve the land and ourselves. This is what we hope to share with you.

We enjoy sharing our beautiful Little Prickly Pear Creek and canyon, with all its fish, wild life and flowers. We welcome you to our family with all our loves, quirks, passions and values, deeply rooted in our Christian tradition.

We enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience while listening and being a part of yours. We endeavor to help all who find their way here to feel the peace and silence that land and natural beauty inspires.

Accommodations

We have a two buildings each comprising of 4 rooms built new in the year 2000, offering great comfort and security. The spacious rooms with their log furniture, private facilities, cast iron stove, and an easy chair have a wonderful home-like feel. The bed combination in the rooms vary with either a king size bed, queen size beds or twin beds. The rooms open to a covered porch where you may relax and enjoy the view with a cup of your pleasure.

Food

The Rocking Z serves great ranch food family style. Breakfast is special pancakes with homemade syrup and bacon and eggs. Sunday is omelet day. Lunch is often a sandwich on the trail with fresh cookies when you get back to the ranch. Dinner is beef, chicken, or pork with sides of potatoes, rice, or pasta; a salad, vegetable and bread. Dessert is fresh pie, cake, or a variety of bars. A beer or glass of wine is served with dinner. On cookout night great dutch oven cooking is enjoyed. Two of us are gluten and dairy free so there are always these choices. We can have vegetarian options also.
