Big Creek Lodge's aim is to tailor your stay to your bucket list dreams, allowing where possible you to experience Cowboy Culture and traditions many that have not changed over the last 100 years.

Day One we will match you to your horse. The morning is spent in a short orientation, to make sure you understand each other and are ready to hit the trails together. That afternoon is spent on a shorter trail ride, solidifying your relationship with your new 4-legged friend, and getting used to the western style of riding if this is new to you.

Day two onwards, hit the trails, showcasing the amazing scenery of the area. You can expect anything from creek crossings, forestry trails, beautiful lakes, open meadows and incredible views. The terrain can be pretty rough, but very varied, and our guides have a penchant for explorations so be ready to experience something new, our trails can accommodate the relaxing pace for the less experienced beginner or add some fun challenges for our more experienced guests, we can accommodate all

Some days the neighbors call and invite us to head out to help them with some cow work. It is a great honour that they think highly enough of us to include ourselves and our guests. A day with the cowboys is always a treat. Depending on the time of year this could involve sorting, branding, trailing pairs to summer pasture checking, relocating  and fall gathering and weaning. Big Creek Lodge's cowboys will give you the basics of cowboy etiquette so you feel confident and informed if you get the opportunity to do this.

If conditions are right a ride in Big Creek Park is a possibility. Here you will get to experience untouched Canadian Wilderness. Wildlife is often spotted, the mountains views are spectacular and trails wind in and out of meadows and native forests.

Whatever your trip may bring, we aim to give you an unforgettable experience horseback, with a beautiful Log Home to relax in after we have worn you out! 3 hearty Western Canadian meals are served each day – don’t worry you’ll get a special lunch packed while on day long rides!
